“Is an eternity with me really all that bad?” Sebastian asks, sipping his coffee. “I mean, I’m sure plenty of people would be dying to do it.”
“No matter how many times you make that joke,” Kurt says, pushing his cup around. “It won’t be funny.” He stares down at his filled coffee cup and sighs. “I don’t think I’m ever going to get used to the taste of this. How to humans drink this on a regular basis?”
“I think it’s quite good. You just need to try different flavors or add more sugar or something. Spice things up a bit.” As Sebastian snaps his fingers, a small flame lights up above his pointer finger, and Kurt nearly jumps out of his seat.

In the 2012 iTunes Festival Ed explains the meaning behind this song. His godparents had years of friendship without really getting into a serious relationship but one day at a dinner party he decides to propose to her, and she says yes. After years of being bestfriends one of them finally gathers up the courage to tell the other how they feel. And Ed wrote this song to sing it at their wedding.
With this song Ed is trying to motivate those people who have been in a close relationship with a friend without realizing that they were actually in love; or those people who have been secretly in love with their bestfriend for years. To finally take that chance and realize the beautiful thing they can create and live if they only dared to do so.
